Return Policy

As a one-person business that crafts products on demand, I do my best to be fair about returns. Here’s the lowdown!

If your order failed to deliver because of an incorrect address:

Sorry, bud! Your order will be held for up to 28 days at no cost to you…but when you’re ready to provide your correct address for re-shipment, I have to charge for shipping. Please double-check the shipping address before submitting your order. The most common mix-up is the ZIP code, so maybe TRIPLE-check that? Thanks for understanding.

If your order is running late:

Every item from The Modest Adventure Co is made to order just for you - and good things take time. Please keep in mind that creating your order takes between 1-3 days in addition to the estimated shipping time. But if you do the math and your order isn’t at your door when it should be, don’t panic!

First check your tracking info. If you see entries showing your order’s journey to you, then don’t fear - it’s just getting there a little slower than expected. All good! - a little patience will cure this. :D

But if you see few or no entries there? That means that your order may have been lost in transit. Give it another couple of days (you know how mail delivery in Vermont can be, especially in winter and mud season!). If your sweet stuff still hasn’t arrived within 5 business after the estimated delivery date and you’re SURE that you entered your address correctly, here’s how to fix it:

  1. Reach out to your local post office to inquire about your order. Be sure to have your tracking info handy! (You might be surprised how much your local Postmaster is into the whole sleuthing-it-out thing.)

  2. Then, if THEY don’t have an answer for you, email me at modestadventureco@gmail.com with a record of your tracking info and we’ll look into it together, friend.

If your order is marked as delivered but you didn’t get it:

If you check your status and see that your mail carrier has marked your package as “delivered” but you don’t have it, reach out to your local post office and your neighbors for help sleuthing! (If you’re in Vermont, Front Porch Forum will be your BFF here.) It may have been delivered to a neighbor’s house by accident or your mail carrier may have it at your local post office branch, getting it ready for the final leg of the journey to your door. This is a weirdly common occurrence, especially here in Vermont. Sadly, I can’t cover refunds due to mail carrier errors - I’m sure you understand. Again, local Postmasters are super helpful about this kind of thing!

If your order arrives damaged:

Every order goes through a 3-step quality check before it sets sail for your door, so this is pretty uncommon. However, if a damaged item slipped through QC or your order got damaged during shipping, I take full responsibility. I’m happy to provide a free replacement if you reach out to me (modestadventureco@gmail.com) within 14 calendar days and provide the following:

  • 1 detail photo of the damage to the shipping box (if applicable);

  • 1 detail photo of the damage to the product itself; and

  • 1 photo where the whole product is visible in the photo.

Sounds weird, I know, but it’s what I’ve gotta have to fix the problem!

If you’ve got buyer’s remorse or ordered the wrong size:

I’m super-duper sorry, friends, but if you get a product and decide that you just don’t like the design/fit, or you ordered the wrong size, I can’t accommodate a refund or exchange. I wish I could but for small independent companies - especially budding ones like The Modest Adventure Co - that’s a logistical hurdle that’s heckin’ hard to clear. Please purchase mindfully, and see the product-specific size chart included on each and every product page. Every product from The Modest Adventure Co is made to order just for you - so your returns can’t just be sent to someone else like with Amazon, etc.

On the off chance you do order something that doesn’t quite fit, may we suggest the following remedies?:

  • Gift it to a friend, family member, barista/bartender, or local business owner that you really appreciate

  • Donate it to a silent auction

  • Give it to someone in need

  • Save it to gift for a birthday or holiday

  • Shirt too large? Wash it in hot H20 then dry it on high heat for some shrinkage. (If it’s only a little too large, dry it on medium first - you can repeat this process multiple times for a total shrinkage of up to ~20%.)

  • Shirt too small? Soak it in warm water + some hair conditioner in the sink for about 30 minutes. Take it out, wring it almost-dry, then gently stretch the shirt in the directions you’d like it to expand. Lay flat or hang to dry. (You won’t get a TON of extra room out of this with new shirts - maybe just 5% - but it works like a charm for when you accidentally shrink your fave cotton tee.)

Sorry, bud - once you have a digital download, it’s yours forever. Please enjoy!
